For Nate, MoonGroove is more than just an event; it's an integral part of his connection to the Tiki-Tomba community. Having been a member since 2016, Nate has witnessed the festival's evolution from its early conceptual stages. Because of his enduring love for this community, he eagerly anticipated MoonGroove's creation, recognizing its potential as a "beautiful experience that I wouldn't want to miss."
A SHARED OASIS
Nate's memories of MoonGroove are rich and vibrant. One particularly poignant memory involves a sweltering heat wave. During the AllStar Jam Session on Sunday, a kiddie pool filled with cold well water, sheltered by a canopy, became a community oasis. In this shared space, Nate connected with countless individuals, reveling in the music and camaraderie. He fondly recalls the laughter and the collective spirit of resourcefulness that transformed a potentially challenging situation into a beautiful moment.
"As nudists, we don't let days get ruined by the weather," Nate explains. "We find ways to make the best of the situation. I love it"."
Anticipation & Connection
As MoonGroove approaches, Nate's excitement is palpable. He eagerly anticipates reuniting with friends, forging new connections, and immersing himself in the sounds of music. The simple pleasures of feeling the grass beneath his toes and connecting with like-minded individuals are central to his MoonGroove experience. He also expresses a hope for a "beautiful moon shining its light on us throughout the evening," highlighting the unique ambiance of PSHS, a campground he describes as offering an intimate setting.
The Unity of Nudity
Nate speaks eloquently about the profound impact of nudism on his life and its contribution to the atmosphere of MoonGroove. He emphasizes how the absence of clothing and the constant self-judgment it can provoke fosters a sense of unity and acceptance. "When we leave our tents or campers, everyone else is nude just like we are," Nate explains.
"It's a level of togetherness and acceptance that you have to feel to understand. It gives me feelings of unity. We are in this together. We are all humans. We are all beautiful".
ADVICE FOR FIRST TIMERS
Understanding that first-time attendees might feel apprehensive about the nudist aspect of MoonGroove, Nate offers gentle encouragement: "Come and try it out. You can always put clothes on if you want to. No one will make you feel any different if you decide to wear clothes or not." He reassures them that the initial self-consciousness often fades quickly: "After a few hours, or maybe even a full day, you will have moments where you forget we are all nude."
Musical and Artistic Appreciation
Nate's musical tastes at MoonGroove are eclectic, with a particular fondness for dancing under the moonlight. He also expresses a strong appreciation for the artistic workshops, highlighting a drawing class under a giant tree as a favorite experience. He values the opportunity for creative exploration and hopes that these workshops continue to be an integral part of the festival.

A Journey of Self-Reflection
In a particularly poignant reflection, Nate shares a personal tradition of taking a nightly walk around the loop. This walk, often shared with friends, has become a ritual of self-reflection, a time to process the changes from year to year. "I love my friends with all my heart and have so many meaningful connections with them," Nate says. "But that loop made me realize that my most meaningful connection is with myself. And I use it to reflect on the changes from year to year and make myself a better person so I can be who I want to be."
The Openness of Community
Nate emphasizes the unique openness and welcoming nature of the MoonGroove community. He highlights the absence of technology, which fosters genuine connection and interaction. The shared experiences, the laughter, and the long days and nights create bonds that are both rapid and deep.
"There are many like-minded people there looking for connection and good vibes."
AN OPEN INVITATION TO EXPERIENCE THE MOONGROOVE NUDE MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL
Nate concludes with a heartfelt invitation: "I'm biased. I love nudism. I love my community. With that being said. This is an amazing event, run by an amazing community. It's one of my favorite events alive. Come join our community, even if only for 1 day, or 1 song, or 1 vibe. Hope to see you there".
